Gen Kayani get hold of two-year extension

KARACHI: The government has decided to give a two-year extension to the incumbent Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, News Profession reported late on Friday night.

Quoting sources, a notification in this respect is likely to be issued within the next 48 hours.

In October 2007, Kayani was promoted as a full general, and made the Vice Chief of Army Staff. He took over as the new army chief after Musharraf’s retirement on November 28, 2007. However, presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar expressed his ignorance about these developments

Corps Commanders’ Conference underway

RAWALPINDI: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani is chairing the Corps Commanders’ Conference being underway at General Headquarters (GHQ) on here on Friday, , News Profession reported.

The conference is a part of regular monthly meeting. The matters of professional interest are being discussed in the meeting.

Corps Commanders and all Principal Staff Officers are attendeding the conference.
