New York judge dumps lawsuits against Bin Laden family

A New York court has dismissed lawsuits brought against 49 businesses and persons, including some of the relatives of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, for require of evidence. Federal judge George Daniels tossed out the luggage brought against four half-brothers and a nephew of bin Laden. The suits had been filed seven years ago by relatives of some of the people killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks, carried out by Al-Qaeda. Almost 3,000 people were killed. But the judge ruled the suits had failed to show bin Laden’s relatives were involved.

SC seeks details of people who got Rs256.665m loans written off

ISLAMABAD : The Supreme Court on Friday directed counsel for the State Bank of Pakistan to submit wide-ranging details of the people who succeeded in receiving their bank loans amounting to Rs256.665 million written off during the period from 1971 to 2009.
It also oblique that if such people refused to return public money, criminal proceedings against them could be initiated.
