Hearing on 18th Amend, NRO cases to resume today

A 3-member Supreme Court bench to resume hearing of a case relating implementation of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), appointment of NRO beneficiaries at key posts and missing people on Monday (today).

Supreme Court on Friday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit till Monday a fresh list of bureaucrats or politicians who had benefited from the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and were still holding public offices.

On Monday, Supreme Court’s 17-member larger bench will resume hearing of a number of identical petitions, challenging certain provisions of 18th Amendment from today.

SC to resume hearing against 18th amendment cases

ISLAMABAD: A 17-memebr larger bench of Supreme Court will resume hearing of petitions filed against various clauses of the 18th constitutional amendment on Monday, News Profession reported.

Federal lawyer Waseem Sajjad will start his arguments on the background of the approval of 18th constitutional amendment and will highlight the factual situation and related legal points.

The lawyers of petitioners including Akram Sheikh, Hamid Khan Advocate, Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, A.K. Dogar and others have concluded their arguments on the case.

The bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Mian Shahkirullah Jan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani, Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed, Justice Mehmood Akhtar Shahid Siddiiqui, Justice Muhammad Sair Ali, Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja , Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Tariq Pervez Khan, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar Khan, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday.
